I have been practising Dru Yoga with Kari for nearly a year now. I initially went in with the hope to gain better core strength, but I got that and so much more. Some of the benefits I have experienced are:
- stress release
- more energy
- greater flexibility (I can nearly touch my toes)
- clearer mind, especially after each practice
- laughter!! The classes are a good laugh!
- more strength


​I am very grateful for the classes Kari provides and I would recommend Dru Yoga for anyone looking for a calm and easy way to exercise and relax the body.

"Dear Kari,
I think that your two videos are ideal for someone like me who lacks confidence, is feeling rather low at the moment, and has some physical difficulties with the lower back and upper right leg. Both of the videos are within my capabilities, although the “regular class” can be a bit of a challenge for me towards the end with the floor work! If I’m feeling a bit fragile I go with “the slow and gentle” class.  However, I think it is a good thing to have the choice, as it is necessary to be challenged.
I try to do at least two classes a week, as I really need to keep moving at regular intervals. These days it is all too easy to sit in a chair for too long and seize up!

The real value for me is that even in a video, you look and sound as if you are giving a very personal and individual class. And you are extremely sympathetic to the needs of the more “mature” person. I feel more cheerful, positive and energised when I have completed a video. Sometimes for me it is a better option than going for a walk, as my leg can be very painful at every step. The warm up parts I feel are very valuable for a stiff back and I can practise those at other times of the day without the video to try and loosen up.

Your joy and laughter are very infectious and help to make me feel more confident, less stressed, and relaxed. And to be honest, I am really put off by lithe twenty year olds who look like models, seem to be double jointed and make me feel like giving up. Let’s just be cosy! 

I love it when you push away your troubles, and I find the twisting movements with the arms at different heights very therapeutic. I try to think about my breathing during the day, to distract myself from worries, and be in that moment. It really helps.

These videos are also great because you can do them in the day, or at any time that suits. They were a brilliant idea on your part and I thank you for them.            With Very Best wishes,   Judith Vicary" Abergavenny

'Dru Yoga has formed an important part of my recovery from a stroke 18 months ago.
Kari’s considered and empathetic approach to teaching Yoga has also been a major contributor to my enhanced health and wellbeing.
Although Dru Yoga is a very measured form of the exercise, it is amazing how, with Kari’s patient tuition, our group has developed a sense of confidence and self belief that wasn’t necessarily there when I first joined the class.
Kari’s pragmatic and sensitive demonstration of techniques of varying degrees of difficulty has also helped me understand the importance of breathing and stretching muscles that would otherwise get little use!
I’m grateful to her for showing me a different pathway to exercise - the benefits of which I probably would’t have recognised, had I not been unwell.'

I joined Kari's Dru Yoga class a few months ago, mainly because I was becoming stiff and was getting into bad posture habits.  The gentle, interesting exercises we do are fun and I already feel the benefits.  But also I have learned relaxation and breathing exercises which I find help ease the stress of everyday life.
 
The 1 day Chakra workshop held at Wyndcliffe house was a lovely experience. Not only was this an unusual and beautiful setting (picture cosy wood panelled room and open fire) but it was, for me, about learning the capacity we each have inside of us to control our emotions.  Postures, relaxation and meditation all combined to make me aware of how our  positive emotions are often buried under negative ones, and I came away feeling joyful and light. The more Dru Yoga I do, the more I want to learn!

"I had done yoga classes in the past (at the local gym), so when I signed up to Kari's weekly class I thought it would be much the same..... I was so pleased to discover it was everything I had previously enjoyed about yoga and just that little bit more - somehow more special.  The venue is idyllic and there is the opportunity to do yoga outside in the beautiful gardens, enhancing the tranquillity and increasing that sense of space which the class leaves me with.

Kari finds the balance of giving you enough to stretch yourself in the class, while maintaining a pace that you can adjust to your own needs and not go too far.  There is something new to experience each week e.g. working with others, new positions and sequences and even some breathing practices (which are always fun).  At the end of each class I feel I have discovered space, in my head, my life and my body feels rejuvenated.  
Highly recommended in today's fast paced and stressful world."

"Dru yoga has a lot in common with Tai Chi -- slow, deliberate movements (most, if not all, of which are easy to do, even from the first!) that bring you into tune with your own body, and gives you a real sense of where you are, physically, but also emotionally, and well, as a whole. Throughout the whole session, Kari was very supportive to us all, as a group but also individually, and very accessible, down-to-earth, and full of good humour. I liked the personal feeling, and by the end, was already looking forward to the next week..."

"Morning Kari,
Just a quick email to say a big 'Thank You' for a lovely day and allowing us into your space.  I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, and felt very peaceful for the rest of the evening.  In fact at bedtime, I was going through all the charkras and felt a definite tingling and changes within the body and a spinning which was lovely.  I haven't had a chance to listen to your cd again but going too this afternoon.  

I found you very informative, welcoming (thank you for getting in the  special vegan milk and margarine, - the meal was very warming and nourishing).  What I most liked about your workshop and the way you presented it, was that there was no performance  and ego in the way.  Too many yoga teachers I feel don't leave their egos outside - I have been to many different classes over the years and some have been very good and some ummm so I think you are right at the top of my list and am just  a little disappointed that I can't attend your timed classes.  

So, I am looking forward to your next workshop ahh.  You have to do another one Kari as I forgot to light a tea light candle from your 'Peace' candle.
Oh by the way, can you give me the name of the cd and where I may purchase this music that you used on your charkra meditation please. Also, just wanted to say - wasn't it a lovely group.
Anyway, once again thank you Kari and look forward to meeting you again.
